The Dolphin announces Diverse Abilities as Charity of the Year

The Dolphin has chosen Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity as their charity of the year for 2023-2024.

Diverse Abilities support children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities across Dorset. The charity runs Langside School, a specialist school for children aged two to 19 with profound and multiple learning disabilities and complex medical needs. Additionally, their respite home, Lily’s Place supports children with day and overnight visits to give their families a well needed break from caring responsibilities. Children with disabilities, their siblings and parents are supported through a series of evening, weekend and school holidays activities.

The charity supports adults at The Beehive, their therapy and activity centre as well as running a supported living service so that adults with disabilities can live in their own home with support to carry out everyday activities and enjoy their interests and hobbies.

John Grinnell, centre manager at The Dolphin, said: “We are really pleased to be working with Diverse Abilities to support their fundraising activities, and we are excited to be hosting a number of events over the next couple of years for our visitors to get involved with.”

Laura Stanley, relationship manager at Diverse Abilities commented: “We are looking forward to working with The Dolphin, and have got lots of exciting events planned – there will be something for everyone.”
