Overall purpose:
The Children’s Team provides a range of services supporting children and young people, plus their families, in Dorset. The team aims to enable families that have children with physical and/or learning disabilities to cope day to day in the knowledge that their child is safe, supported and cared for.
Working across our children’s team either in Lily’s Place short stay children’s home or Lawford Lodge transition respite unit providing the best care.

This role requires staff to
Follow each individual young person’s care plan and contribute to their continuing development
Assist where necessary all young people with intimate and personal care e.g. Personal hygiene, feminine hygiene and bathing
Assist where necessary any young person with eating and drinking or maintaining their nutritional needs
Encourage, so far as possible the young people to high standards of cleanliness and tidiness
Support young people to fulfil their social and emotional needs through play/activities
Holding a full UK manual driving licence essential for this role.
Shifts include 7am-9.30am/3pm-9pm Mon to Fri term time, plus 7am-2pm/1pm-9pm/10am-6pm during weekends and school holidays. Part time and full time hours available with contracts between 15 and 35 hours per week.

Desirable experience
Previous experience working with children and young people in social care settings ideally (or special needs education) is preferred. Social care work (care homes etc) or personal experience of working with disabilities.
You will need to adhere to the highest standards of Child and Adult Protection Procedures and will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS Check free of charge.
